Founded in 1977 by Bob Luby, Luby Equipment Services began with a vision to set a new standard in the heavy equipment industry. Bob, starting his career in heavy equipment sales with extensive experience across a variety of machinery, including cranes and excavators, acquired the Machine Maintenance and Equipment Company. This marked the beginning of a legacy focused on excellence in maintaining and repairing heavy industrial equipment.

Over the years, Luby Equipment has evolved into a comprehensive entity with three specialized divisions: Construction Equipment, Oilfield Services, and Power Generation, each designed to meet the diverse needs of our customers.

Luby Construction Division - CASE and Takeuchi

Construction Equipment Division

Our Construction Equipment Division has grown through strategic acquisitions and expansion, beginning with the 1989 acquisition of Bistate Machinery, a Fiat-Allis dealer. This momentum continued with the purchase of Case Power & Equipment in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau, MO, followed by the establishment of branches in Quincy, Springfield, and Caseyville (now Fairmont City), IL, and O’Fallon, MO. In 2024, we expanded further with the acquisition of Potter Equipment’s two CASE dealership locations in Springfield, MO, and Harrison, AR.

Today, we operate eight locations, providing a comprehensive selection of new and used construction equipment for rental, purchase, and lease. Our equipment supports projects across utilities, road maintenance, demolition, material handling, and trenching, ensuring our customers have the tools they need to get the job done.

Oilfield Services Division

Our Oilfield Services Division began with a dealership for Ingersoll-Rand water well drills, down-hole hammers and bits, and high-pressure compressors. Initially focused on the water well industry, we expanded into oil and gas to meet the demands of its rapid growth.

Today, we serve West Virginia, providing equipment, parts, and service, including compressor package rentals with operators and a wide range of essential equipment rentals for oil and gas drilling operations.

Power Generation Division

In 2005, we launched our Industrial Power & Air Division, further diversifying our offerings into the power generation market. Our growth in this area was propelled by the need for reliable power solutions, underscored by several ice storms.

Today, Luby Power is a key player in power generation across Missouri and Illinois, providing 24/7 emergency response, scheduled maintenance contracts covering all generator brands, and serving critical infrastructure such as hospitals, commercial and industrial buildings, and airports.
